TPL MARTINA FRANCA | PRESENTATION OF NEW OTOKAR KENT C CNG BUSES FOR AN ECOLOGICAL TURNAROUND OF LOCAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT

On Nov. 7, 2024, the city of Martina Franca celebrated an important step toward more sustainable mobility with the unveiling of 13 new eco-friendly CNG buses. These vehicles, purchased by the Apulia Region through European funding, represent a significant "green" turnaround for the city's public transport. Aiming to reduce environmental impact and improve service quality, the new fleet promises to offer citizens a more comfortable, safe and efficient travel experience.

The opening ceremony, held in the heart of the city, was attended by prominent personalities from the region and the municipality. Among them were theRegional councillor for transport, Debora Ciliento, the mayor of Martina Franca, Gianfranco Palmisano, deputy mayor Nunzia Convertini and municipal councillor for mobility Angelo Gianfrate. Institutional representatives expressed their enthusiasm and pride in a project that not only improves the quality of life for citizens but also contributes to a significant reduction in pollutant emissions.

The new Otokar Kent C CNG buses., complying with Euro 6 standards, represent technological and environmental excellence. They are equipped with advanced monitoring systems, which provide passengers with real-time route and stop information, and are equipped with a modern video surveillance system to ensure the safety of all travelers. In addition, comfortable seats and spacious interiors make every journey a pleasant experience, both for those who use public transportation on a daily basis and for tourists visiting Martina Franca.

Vito Marinelli, Miccolis S.p.A. director of operations., the company that manages the fleet, stressed the importance of this investment for the company and the city: "We thank the Apulia Region and all the stakeholders who made this project possible. The Puglia Region's initiative to focus on CNG vehicles is a strong signal toward responsible and sustainable urban mobility. These buses, in fact, are powered by compressed natural gas, a choice that significantly reduces emissions of CO2 and other pollutants compared to traditional diesel buses. The Region, with the support of companies such as Miccolis S.p.A., confirms its commitment to reducing pollution and lowering greenhouse gas emissions, aligning itself with European environmental sustainability and urban development goals.
