Miccolis - BYD partnership: test for E-Mobility in Puglia and Basilicata
The name Miccolis has been synonymous with passenger transport for over 90 years. A tradition well rooted in the constant challenge of being ahead of the times, guaranteeing quality and safety, compliance with deadlines and 360 ° reliability.
In response to the current needs of a constantly evolving public transport, the Apulian company intends to be the protagonist of the mobility of the future. For this reason it wanted to start a series of road tests, to evaluate the possibility of acquiring adequate know-how on the great technological innovations applied to local public transport.
Summer 2021 will be dedicated to sustainable mobility
In the coming weeks, Miccolis spa will carry out a series of experiments in Puglia and Basilicata with a BYD K9UB electric bus. BYD is a global leader in the production of electric buses: over 65 thousand "pure electric" buses delivered worldwide and circulating in over 300 cities in over 50 countries
The selected municipalities, united by the growing concern about the consequences of traffic congestion on health and the environment, are the following: Modugno, Mola di Bari and Monopoli in the Province of Bari, Martina and Matera.

The BYD K9UB, in the aforementioned municipalities, will be tested to verify parameters such as consumption, range, recharge and maintenance times, emissions, noise and commercial speed in comparison with the performance of the diesel vehicles currently in use. All tests will be carried out with different types of cargo to simulate the different conditions on board with maximum accuracy and to verify safety and comfort for passengers.
The BYD K9UB:
The bus used by Miccolis in the experiments, 12 meters long, is "full electric": it is recharged in the depot at night, has an autonomy of 300 km, and is capable of carrying 87 passengers, of which 27 seated
The road tests of the BYD K9UB will allow administrations and citizens to closely observe the benefits of the electric transition in public transport. On this important topic, Miccolis organized, in agreement with qualified associations in the transport sector and professional associations, a technical seminar, which will take place next autumn, aimed at mobility operators, technicians and schools.
